KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Virginia Tech men’s and women’s track & field team will showcase the Tech distance runners this weekend at the Tennessee Relays Powered by Sea Ray this Friday and Saturday at the University of Tennessee.
Amanda Smith will be participating in the 800-meter race. Smith has the fastest seed time in the event while teammate Shannon Morton, also competing in the 800, has the second-fastest seed time.
The women’s 1500-meter race will feature Sarah Rapp, Paige Kvartunas, Hanna Green and Katarina Smiljanec. All four are seeded in the top 10 in the event.
In addition, the Hokies will field a women’s 4x800-meter relay team and a women’s distance medley relay team.
On the men’s side, Prince Owusu and Kevin DeWillie will compete in the men’s 800-meter race. Both Owusu and DeWillie are seeded in the top 10.
Patrick Joseph, Neil Gourley, Thomas Curtin, Darren Barlow, Stuart Robertson, Daniel Jaskowak and Ashkan Mohammadi are all seeded in the top 10 and will participate in the men’s 1500-meter race.
The Hokies will have several runners in the men’s 5000-meter race and will field a 4x800-meter relay and a distance medley relay team.
Events will began this afternoon and will run through Saturday with the Hokies competing on Friday and Saturday. Live results will be available for the meet.
