GAME SUMMARY
In a breathtaking game, Tech rallied from a
21-point first-half deficit to take the lead from
Florida State going into the fourth quarter.
But the Hokies simply couldn’t overcome their
mistakes nor the big plays of the Seminoles,
and as a result, FSU walked off the field with a
46-29 Sugar Bowl victory and the national title
at the Superdome. The Hokies trailed 28-7,
but took a 29-28 lead on Michael Vick’s 3-yard
touchdown run with 37 seconds left in the
third. The Seminoles scored two touchdowns
in the fourth quarter, though, to pull away. Vick
finished with 323 of the Hokies’ 503 yards of
total offense.

GAME SUMMARY
Despite 158 yards receiving from André Davis
in the final game of his career, Virginia Tech
couldn’t hold off the big-play capabilities of
Florida State, falling to the Seminoles 30-17 at
Alltel Stadium. A 55-yard touchdown pass from
Tech quarterback Grant Noel to Davis with 40
seconds left in the third quarter gave the Hokies
a 17-13 lead. The Seminoles, though, scored on
passing plays of 77 and 23 yards in the fourth
quarter to pull away. Noel threw for 269 yards
in the loss.
