GAME SUMMARY
The University of Cincinnati Bearcats scored
three second-half touchdowns to defeat Virginia
Tech 18-6 at Kidd Field. The game, played in
freezing conditions, marked Tech’s first bowl
appearance and the first bowl game in which a
football team from the commonwealth of Virginia
had participated. The Hokies trailed 12-0 before
scoring their lone touchdown on a 3-yard run by
Ralph Beard on fourth-and-goal. A Cincinnati
interception, though, set up a 3-yard touchdown
run by Don McMillan to put the game away for
the Bearcats.
