GAME SUMMARY

Virginia Tech scored one of the most stirring

victories in the university’s athletics history

when it came from behind to defeat Texas

28-10 at the Superdome. Tech spotted the

favored Longhorns a 10-0 lead and then race

back behind the play of flanker Bryan Still, who

returned a punt 60 yards for a Tech touchdown

with 2:34 left in the first half, caught a 27-yard

pass from quarterback Jim Druckenmiller at the

Texas 2-yard line to set up a touchdown run by

Marcus Parker that put the Hokies ahead 14-10,

and got behind the Texas defenders to haul in

a 54-yard touchdown pass from Druckenmiller.

That play spelled doom for the Longhorns and

helped earn Still the game’s MVP award.
