GAME SUMMARY

Virginia Tech got a 100-yard rushing

performance from Darren Evans and Tech’s

defense intercepted four passes, as the Hokies

shook off an early Cincinnati touchdown and

dominated the Bearcats the rest of the way en

route to a 20-7 victory at Dolphin Stadium. The

Hokies gave up an early score, but didn’t allow

another point. Evans ground out 153 yards

on 28 carries for his fourth 100-yard rushing

performance of the year. His 6-yard touchdown

run with 11:29 to go iced the game for the

Hokies.

GAME SUMMARY

The Hokies dominated the final 30 minutes by

using Ryan Williams’ rushing and yet another

powerful second-half defensive performance

to roll past Tennessee 37-14 at the Georgia

Dome. Tech’s defense did not allow a point in

the second half for the fifth straight game and

allowed just 112 yards of offense in the final 30

minutes – 43 of that coming in Vols’ final drive

with the outcome well in hand. The defense also

recorded six sacks. Williams rushed for 117

yards and two touchdowns, breaking Tech’s

single-season rushing record of 1,647 yards set

by former tailback Kevin Jones in 2003. Williams

finished the season with 1,655 yards.

GAME SUMMARY

Stanford scored touchdowns on its first four

possessions of the second half to break open a

close game and down the Hokies 40-12 at Sun

Life Stadium. The Cardinal finished with 534

yards of total offense. Tech’s lone touchdown

came on an 11-yard pass from Tyrod Taylor to

David Wilson. Taylor paced the Hokies with 222

yards passing, but was sacked eight times.
