BLACKSBURG, Va. - The No. 22 ranked women’s cross country team finished in third place while the men’s team finished in fifth place at the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course on Friday evening.
For the women who finished in third place behind Florida State and North Carolina, the Hokies’ Sarah Rapp was the top finisher with a 14th place finish. Rapp crossed the finish line 22:13.40. Following Rapp was a quartet of Hokies. Paige Kvartunas (22:13.60), Shannon Morton (22:13.80), Madalyn Nuckols (22:13.80) and Abigail Motley (22:14.70) finished in 15th, 16th, 16th and 18th places, respectively.
The men, who finished in fifth place overall, was led Neil Gourley (25:19.00) was the top finisher for the Hokies in 15th place, helping Tech to a fifth place finish overall. Andrew Gaiser finished next for Tech with a time of 25:24.00. Stuart Robertson crossed the line at 25:27.80 for a 21st place finish. George Carter finished in 32nd with a time of 25:48.90. Ashkan Mohammadi posted a 36th place finish with a time of 25:56.70.
The Hokies are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 4 when they run at the Louisville Invite.
