No. 9 Hokies travel to Journeymen Collegiate Classic

BLACKSBURG - No. 9 Virginia Tech hits the road this weekend to compete in the individual tournament of the Journeymen Collegiate Classic in Albany, New York on Sunday, Nov. 12. Live stream and live stats can be found on FloWrestling.

Participating teams include Lehigh, Lock Haven, NC State, Oklahoma State and Virginia.

HOKIES TOP NO. 21 STANFORD TO OPEN 2017-18, 22-12
·No. 9 Virginia Tech gave head coach Tony Robie his first career coaching victory with a 22-12 win over No. 21 Stanford in the season opener.
·The Hokies rode bonus point victories from Dennis Gustafson, David McFadden and Zack Zavatsky to the win over the Cardinal.
·Tech’s redshirt freshmen went 1-2 with Brent Moore picking up a 6-1 decision at 141 pounds.

MULTIPLE WRESTLERS PLACE AT THE HOKIE OPEN
·Virginia Tech saw 15 wrestlers place, including five grapplers competing attached, at the Hokie Open at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, Virginia.
·Dennis Gustafson and David McFadden took home titles in their respective weight classes while true freshmen CJ Manley (133), Mekhi Lewis (165), Stanley Smeltzer (184) and John Borst (197) won their weights in the freshman and sophomore bracket.
