Hokies set to send strong contingent to Cleveland State Open
Saturday will be the first action of the season for All-American David McFadden

BLACKSBURG – After taking a week off to wrap up the semester, the Virginia Tech wrestling team will send 13 younger grapplers to the Cleveland State Open on Saturday, Dec. 17. Live stats will be available on TrackWrestling.com.
Cornell, Michigan, Rutgers and Penn State are just a sample of the 30 programs that are sending competitors to Cleveland this weekend. Among the wreslters the Hokies are sending are true freshmen Andrew Dunn and KT Forsythe. Dunn, who will be wrestling unattached again this weekend, took home the heavyweight title at the Lake Erie Storm Open two weeks ago while Forsythe went 4-0 at 157 to earn an individual title of his own.
Saturday will also see the return of sophomore David McFadden at 165 pounds. McFadden is on the road back to competing after rehabbing from a knee injury that required surgery. At the 2016 NCAA Championships, McFadden, the 2016 ACC Freshman of the Year, went 5-3 and placed sixth to earn All-American status. The West Milford, N.J. native will be competing unattached.
In dual meet action, the No. 6 Hokies (4-1) will take on West Virginia in Parkersburg, West Virginia on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m.
