Tech to host No. 13 Maryland Sunday
NASCAR star Kevin Harvick to be guest coach

BLACKSBURG - The 15th-ranked Virginia Tech wrestling team will put its 16-match winning streak on the line Sunday evening when it hosts 13th Maryland in a conference dual meet inside Cassell Coliseum. The match, which starts at 6 p.m., will feature a combined eight ranked wrestlers and the Hokies will have special guest coach Kevin Harvick of NASCAR on the bench.

The Hokies (3-1, 1-0 ACC) will send ranked wrestlers Devin Carter (third at 133 pounds), Zach Neibert (11th at 141 pounds) and Pete Yates (seventh at 165 pounds) to the mat while the Terps counter with ranked wrestlers at 125, 157, 165, 174 and 197.

The highlighted match of the night will come at 165 pounds where Yates (16-2) will go up against second-ranked John Asper (16-0).

Live stats will be available through trackwrestling.com with a link provided on the front page of hokiesports.com. Additionally, a broadcast of the match will be available through Hokies All-Access.

Joining Tech on the bench will be Harvick, who wrestled for his high school, but is now starring in NASCAR. He finished third this season in the Sprint Cup Series. Photos signed by Harvick will be given to the first 100 fans. Due to Harvick’s schedule, he will have to leave right after the match to catch a flight and won’t be able to do an autograph session.
