Hokies set for NCAA East Preliminary Rounds
Three-day meet begins on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. ET

BLACKSBURG – With a week off after the ACC Outdoor Championships, Virginia Tech track and field is ready for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds in Tampa, Florida.
The three-day meet begins on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. ET with the men’s hammer throw at USF Track and Field Stadium.
FloTrack will produce the on-air broadcast for all three days. Viewers must be a FloTrack subscriber to watch and can sign up here.
Tech is the highest-rated team from the ACC on the women’s side in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Outdoor Top 25 Rankings, coming in at No. 17.

The NCAA will take the top 12 in each region’s event, punching their ticket to NCAAs.
Tech will be sending 34 student-athletes to Tampa, marking the third consecutive outdoor season it has sent 30-plus to regionals. The distance group is the biggest of Tech’s five disciplines, with 14 student-athletes heading to the Sunshine State.
Coming into the meet, Tech boasts eight women who own a time or mark inside the top 12, while the men own seven times or marks.
The last time out at the NCAA East Preliminary, Tech had 36 student-athletes qualify for Lexington, Kentucky, and went on to send 21 to Tracktown USA.
