Hokies with program record on day one of Women's NCAA Championships
400 MR team sets new Tech mark, earns All-American Honorable Mention

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 400 medley relay team set a new program record for the Virginia Tech women’s swimming and diving team during the opening day of the 2018 NCAA Women’s Championships at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.
The team of senior Klaudia Nazieblo, freshman Joelle Vereb and seniors Maggie Gruber and Adriana Grabski swam a record setting 3:32.82 in the morning preliminaries and finished 15th overall in the finals to claim All-American Honorable Mention honors. The quartet broke the previous record of 3:34.41 set in 2013.
Reka Gyorgy missed the finals, but finished with a time of 2:00.03 in the 200 IM, placing 55th out of 66 entrants.
In diving, Ashlynn Peters came in 30th in the 1-meter, out of 49 competitors, with a score of 265.95.
The Hokies will be back in the pool on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. with the preliminaries of the 400 IM, 100 fly, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 3-meter diving and 200 medley relay.
