H2Okies post strong relay times on day one of the ACC Championship
200 medley relay unit turns in an NCAA automatic qualifying time and the second-fastest time in school history

ATLANTA – The Virginia Tech men’s swimmers registered two strong relay times to remain on top of the team standings after day one of the ACC Championships on Monday.
The 200 medley relay unit comprised of sophomore Jake Lamparaella, senior Brandon Fiala, junior Harrison pierce and sophomore Ian Ho swam an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:25.05 to place fourth and score 52 team points. The time was two seconds faster than their seed time and was also the second-fastest in program history.
The H2Okies swam a B cut time of 6:24.04 to place sixth and earn 48 points in the 800 free relay. The relay team of sophomore Norbert Szabo, senior Robert Owen, senior Adam Stacklin and freshman Hassler Carroll entered the day with a season-best time of 6:35.39.
Tomorrow, Tech will look to see some finalists after the prelims of the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free starting at 10 a.m. The evening sessions will be streamed live on WatchESPN via the ACC Digital Network.
