Homecoming, Effect Games set for 2018 Tech football season
NEW: Hokie Effect Game will stripe Lane Stadium for Oct. 6 contest vs. Notre Dame
April 4, 2018
BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech Athletics Department announced special dates and promotions for the 2018 football season on Wednesday:
- White Effect & Military Appreciation – East Carolina (Sept. 15)
- NEW Hokie Effect – Stripe the Stadium – Notre Dame (Oct. 6)
- Orange Effect – Georgia Tech (Oct. 25)
- Homecoming – Boston College (Nov. 3)
- Maroon Effect & Hall of Fame Day – Miami (Nov. 17)
The first ever Hokie Effect game in partnership with the Student Government Association (SGA) will stripe sections of Lane Stadium in Orange and Maroon, as Notre Dame makes its debut appearance in Blacksburg on Oct. 6. Similar to Orange and Maroon Effect games in past years, and in conjunction with the SGA, official Hokie Effect stripe shirts will be available for purchase at University Bookstores, Lane Stadium Shops and Hokie Village beginning on the Spring Game weekend.

This year’s Orange Effect t-shirt celebrates “Throwback Thursday” for the Hokies’ match-up on Thursday night with Georgia Tech. The long-sleeved shirt features the fan-favorite 2002 SGA Hokie Effect shirt design with the slogan, “Hokie ‘bout them Hokies.”
Proceeds from Orange, Maroon and Hokie Effect shirt sales go toward the funding of the Virginia Tech Student Government Association, supporting initiatives for the continued improvement of resources for the student body.
Shirt sales from the White Effect/Military Appreciation t-shirt will once again benefit the Fisher House Foundation – best known for its network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment.
Two ticket options for the 2018 season are currently on sale.
The BeamerBall Mobile Pass is available for $225 in limited supply and includes tickets to match-ups against ECU, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech and Virginia. This mobile-only ticket option conveniently delivers tickets to one’s phone approximately 24 hours prior to each game and one’s seat location will vary from game to game.
Season tickets are also on sale now to the general public and include a ticket to all seven home games for just $400. While seat locations are not currently available, they will be assigned in May and guarantee the same seat for each game. Season tickets provide the best value for customers, who save at least 20 percent when compared to purchasing a ticket to each game individually.
