BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech video office released its latest documentary Monday morning, with this one called the “Miracle in Morgantown,” which spotlights the football team’s 22-20 victory over West Virginia in 1999.
The Hokies, 7-0 and ranked No. 3 nationally at the time, trailed 20-19 with 1:15 remaining, but quarterback Michael Vick led Tech on a drive into West Virginia territory, and then Shayne Graham booted a 44-yard field goal as time expired to propel Tech to one of the most thrilling wins in school history.
The win kept Tech’s national championship hopes alive at the time. Vick ultimately guided the Hokies to the BIG EAST championship, a perfect 11-0 regular season and a spot in the national championship game against Florida State.
