Hokies prep for Saturday scrimmage, student practice set for April 18
Three dates change on 2018 schedule, WVU student tickets almost gone
April 14, 2017
BLACKSBURG – The Hokies conducted practice No. 11 of the spring Thursday evening under glorious conditions in Blacksburg. Head coach Justin Fuente and his squad will conduct another scrimmage Saturday morning at Lane Stadium – the final scrimmage before the Spring Game on Saturday, April 22.
Here’s a look at some of the best images from Thursday’s scrimmage.
Student practice set for Tuesday
Coach Fuente has invited Tech students with a valid ID to attend Tuesday’s practice. Students may enter Lane Stadium at 6:30 p.m. to view practice from the lower level of the west stands (press box side). Restroom facilities will be open, but no concessions will be available. Following the conclusion of practice, students will be permitted on the field for 15 minutes to take selfies with football student-athletes (no autographs permitted). Students who have reserved their 2017 student season tickets can pick up their complimentary stadium blanket following the conclusion of practice.

Release
QB competition continues
Don’t expect Fuente and his staff to make a final decision on the 2017 quarterback derby during spring practice. With the Hokies limited in numbers of available receivers this spring, Fuente indicated earlier this week that he isn’t putting a timetable on the decision. Based on last year’s timing, late August leading up to the West Virginia game appears to be a more realistic target to determine who will take the opening snap at FedExField.

Reserve your seat for Clemson, five other home games
Just a friendly reminder that if you haven’t reserved your season tickets yet, there’s still time. A season ticket is your only way to guarantee a seat at Lane Stadium when Clemson visits Blacksburg on Sept. 30. No single-game sales of Clemson tickets are anticipated, so save your spot for all six Saturday games at Lane today.
2017 season tickets
An extremely limited number of student tickets are still available for the 2017 season opener against West Virginia at FedExField. Make sure to get those tickets before they’re gone.
