BLACKSBURG – The Hokies put on the pads for the first time this spring during Saturday’s practice as Coach Fuente and his staff put the squad through the “Hokie Drill,” which annually marks the first contact drill of spring and fall practice session. Here’s a good look at how the entire squad gets an up-close look and feel at the “gladiators” in the ring.

The final periods of Saturday’s session also featured some controlled good-on-good teamwork. In addition, a pair of notable 2017 signees watched the practice: S Devon Hunter (pictured in the center of the below Tweet) and LB Dylan Rivers. A number of players preparing for the 2017 NFL Draft were also in the house, including QB Jerod Evans, WR Isaiah Ford and DE Ken Ekanem.

Coaching Clinic a Big Hit
Approximately 200 high school coaches from across the region were on campus on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for a coaching clinic conducted by Coach Fuente and his staff. Here’s a good read from Mike Barber of the Richmond Times-Dispatch on that event.
