Combine invites, letterwinners, top ACC units

BLACKSBURG – It was another eventful week for the Virginia Tech football program, as six Hokies had their tickets punched to the 2017 NFL Combine, while another group of Hokies were presented lettermen jackets from head coach Justin Fuente. In addition, ESPN ACC ranked Tech’s linebackers and special teams as the best two returning units in the conference.

Six Hokies heading to NFL Scouting Combine

The National Football League officially unveiled its invitations to the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis from Feb. 28 to March 6. Graduating seniors S Chuck Clark, DE Ken Ekanem and RB Sam Rogers will represent the Hokies along with TE Bucky Hodges (who earned his degree in December), QB Jerod Evans and WR Isaiah Ford.

Sixteen Hokies earn their first varsity letters

A total of 16 Hokies earned their initial varsity letter in 2016. Coach Fuente recently participated in a ceremony honoring all Tech student-athletes who earned their letterwinner jackets. Here’s a look some of our guys proudly wearing the newest addition to their wardrobe.

Tech boasts top returning linebackers, special teams units in ACC

ESPN ACC took a position-by-position look at the top returning groups in the ACC for 2017. The Hokies ranked atop the league at both linebacker and special teams based on the rankings compiled by David Hale and Andrea Adelson. Here’s a look.
