Coach Beamer Enjoying Retirement to the Max
Virginia Tech legend joined ESPN College Football broadcast crew for Virginia game
November 29, 2016
It’s been a year since Frank Beamer led the Hokies to a 12th consecutive win over Virginia to seal his 23rd and final bowl appearance for the Hokies. Virginia Tech would send Beamer out a winner with a 55-52 victory over Tulsa in the Independence Bowl.
Since that time, Beamer and his wife, Cheryl, have welcomed another grandson to their family. The Beamers have enjoyed watching games together from their suite in Lane Stadium. During the third quarter of Saturday’s 52-10 win over Virginia, Beamer joined Jason Benetti and Kelly Stouffer in the ESPN booth to talk about retirement, the current team and how much he enjoys seeing players like Sam Rogers wearing his No. 25 jersey.

When he’s not giving motivational speeches, talking walks on the Virginia Tech campus or eating milkshakes, Beamer is enjoying more time with his family. David Teel of the Daily Press recently spent some time at home with the Beamers and wrote the below article on his retirement.
