Tech set for Thursday night clash with Miami Hurricanes
It will be the school's 31st game on ESPN's Thursday package

Virginia Tech football looks to rebound after its second loss of the season when it hosts Miami this Thursday night in Lane Stadium in Blacksburg. The nationally televised game is set for a 7 p.m. kick and will be the Hokies 31st appearance on the Thursday night ESPN package.

HOKIES THRIVE ON THURSDAYS

  • Virginia Tech hosts Miami in a primetime ACC showdown at Lane Stadium.
  • Since the inception of ESPN’s Thursday night package in 1991, only Georgia Tech (32) owns more appearances than Virginia Tech (30).
  • The Hokies are 21-9 (.700) on Thursday night, including an 11-5 mark at Lane Stadium.
  • Georgia Tech is the only team that has even played as many Thursday night games as VT has won.
  • VT suffered its first ACC loss under Justin Fuente in a 31-17 setback at Syracuse (10/15).
  • Miami is coming off a 20-13 loss vs. UNC (10/15) after a 20-19 defeat vs. FSU (10/8).
  • Tech owns a 139-30 scoring edge in three games at Lane Stadium under Fuente.

ACC COASTAL SHOWDOWN

  • VT owns a 12-8 edge in its last 20 games vs. Miami, but Miami has won three of the last four contests.
  • VT’s last home win vs. Miami was a 38-35 victory (10/8/11).
  • The Hokies join UNC (3-1) and Pitt (2-1) as teams with at least two wins and only one loss in the ACC Coastal race. Miami is 1-2 in ACC play.

FORD TIES FREEMAN FOR TD MARK

  • WR Isaiah Ford registered his 22nd career TD catch at Syracuse (10/15), tying the mark established by Antonio Freeman.
  • Ford accomplished the feat in 32 games. Freeman played 42 career games with Tech and would go on to haul in 61 TD passes in the NFL ranks.
  • Ford is the ACC’s second-leading active receiver with 2,332 career yards.

STROMAN IS USA’S MOST VERSATILE MAN

  • CB Greg Stroman is the only FBS player with 350 KO return yards, 150 punt return yards and multiple INTs - Stroman’s three INTs are tied for second in the ACC. He also punted twice at UNC (10/8).
  • Stroman’s 178 punt return yards rank sixth in the FBS and his 365 KO return yards are 24th in FBS.
  • He ranks fourth in the ACC in punt return avg. (11.9) and fifth in KO return avg. (22.8).
  • Stroman owns two career punt return TDs, including an 87-yard score vs. East Carolina (9/24).
