BLACKSBURG – Junior wide receiver Isaiah Ford has been named to the Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List and senior fullback Sam Rogers has been selected to the preseason watch list for the Wuerffel Trophy.
This is Rogers’ first watch list appearance while Ford’s selection to the Biletnikoff watch list is his second this preseason.
Ford’s 1,164 yards receiving ranked first in the ACC last season and he was the only pass catcher in the conference to eclipse the 1,000-yard threshold. His 12 catches for 227 yards in Tech’s victory over Tulsa in the 2015 Independence Bowl are both Hokie bowl game records.
Rogers, a human nutrition, foods and exercise major from Mechanicsville, Virginia, is one Tech’s leaders in the community as well as on the field. He appeared in all 13 games, with five starts, last season when he rushed for 260 yards and caught 16 passes for 193 yards. Rogers scored four total touchdowns for the Hokies as a junior, with two coming out of the backfield and two coming off a pass.
The Biletnikoff Award is decided on by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc. (TQCF). The All Sports Association decides the recipient of the Wuerffel Trophy, which is presented to the FBS football player who best combines exemplary community service with academic and athletic achievement.
