Ekanem and Rogers to participate in 2016 ACC Football Kickoff
The Tech duo is among the 28 ACC student-athletes attending the two-day event

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Monday the names of the 28 football student-athletes who have been chosen by its 14 league schools to attend the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Football Kickoff being held July 21-22 at the Westin Charlotte located in Charlotte, N.C.

Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente will be joined at the event by seniors Ken Ekanem and Sam Rogers. The Hokies, along with the rest of the Coastal Division head coaches and student-athletes, will be available on Thursday, July 21. The head coaches and student-athletes from Atlantic Division teams will be made available on Friday, July 22.

Ekanem, a defensive end from Centreville, Virginia, has recorded 95 career tackles and 14 career sacks in his three seasons. He recently was named to the 2016 Nagurski Trophy watch list, which is voted on by the FWAA and given to the best defensive player in the nation. He will enter the 2016 season with a team-best 26 consecutive games started streak.

Rogers, a native of Mechanicsville, Virginia, has played in every game at fullback over the past three seasons, making 13 starts. He has 98 career rushing attempts for 409 yards and two touchdowns, while also catching 48 passes for 501 yards and three scores.
