Teller and Ekanem selected to watch lists
The Nagurski and Outland Trophies tab the Hokie duo

BLACKSBURG -- Senior defensive end Ken Ekanem and junior offensive lineman Wyatt Teller were both tabbed to preseason watch lists on Friday. Ekanem was selected to the watch list for the Nagurski Trophy while Teller was named the Outland Trophy Watch List.

Ekanem racked up a team-high 4.5 sacks to go along with 9.5 tackles for loss and three passes defended in 2015. The Centreville, Virginia native posted 7.0 tackles for loss in ACC play and picked up a sack in the Hokies’ Independence Bowl victory over Tulsa.

Teller started in 12 of Tech’s 13 games last season and was presented the Outstanding Offensive Lineman award by the coaching staff. The Bealeton, Virginia product is one of four returners on the offensive line for first-year head coach Justin Fuente.

The Outland Trophy is presented annually to college football’s best interior lineman and is decided on by the Football Writers Association of America. The Nagurski Trophy is also voted on by the FWAA and is given to the best defensive player in the nation.
