Clark named to the Bednarik Award Watch List
The senior led the Hokies in tackles last season

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech senior defensive back Chuck Clark has been named to the preseason watch list for the Bednarik Award, the award’s selection committee has announced. The Bednarik Award has been presented annually to college football’s defensive player of the year since 1995.

Clark tallied eight passes defended, three tackles for loss, one sack and one interception in 13 starts for the Hokies last season. The Suffolk, Virginia native led Tech and tied for ninth in the ACC with 107 total tackles. His tackles total ranked fifth among ACC defensive backs and also set a new career high.

A leader for the Hokies in the classroom, Clark is a two-time ACC All-Academic Team selection and is pursuing a degree in human development.

Chuck Bednarik, the award’s namesake and a former standout at Penn and with the Philadelphia Eagles, is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame's Class of '69 and the NFL Hall of Fame's Class of '67.
