BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech football program announced several key dates Wednesday. The Hokies will serve as hosts for Fan Appreciation Day at Lane Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 14 and the 2017 Maroon-Orange Spring Game is slated for Saturday, April 22. Please save both these dates on your calendars to join the Hokies for free family fun.

The football squad is set to report on Aug. 3, with the first practice of preseason camp scheduled for Aug. 4. Head coach Justin Fuente and selected members of the team will participate in Media Day at 9 a.m. on Aug. 14, with Fan Appreciation Day set for 11:30 a.m.–12:45 p.m. later that day. Early entry for Hokie Kids’ Club members will begin at 11:15 a.m. in Lane Stadium. Fan Appreciation Day is free and open to fans of all ages. Parking is also free.

Fans will be allowed to get autographs from their favorite players and selected coaches at Fan Appreciation Day. All players will be in attendance and grouped at stations according to positions. Fans can bring in outside items to be signed, but autograph seekers may only have one item signed at each station. Posters will be provided free of charge to those who wish to get one signed. More details will follow later this summer.

Season tickets for the 2016 season are available online at hokietickets.com, or by calling the Athletics Ticket Office at either of these two numbers – 1-800 VA TECH4 or 540-231-6731. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the Virginia Tech Athletics Ticket Office during normal business hours.

The Hokies’ 2016 football schedule kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 3, against Liberty, as Coach Fuente makes his Tech coaching debut. The 2016 home slate also includes contests at Lane Stadium against East Carolina, Georgia Tech and Boston College. Thursday night football returns to Blacksburg on Oct. 20 as the Hokies host Miami. Tech also will seek to extend its 12-game winning streak against in-state rival Virginia on Nov. 26.

The Hokies wrapped up their 23rd consecutive winning season in 2015 by beating Tulsa in the Independence Bowl, which marked the program’s 23rd straight bowl appearance – the longest active streak recognized by the NCAA.
