Fuente invites Virginia Tech students to practice on April 19
Free t-shirts to first 500 students, opportunity to take selfies with Hokies

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente invited all Virginia Tech students to attend next Tuesday evening’s football practice at Lane Stadium. The first 500 Virginia Tech student season ticket holders to enter the stadium for the event will receive a complimentary t-shirt.

“The energy and enthusiasm of Virginia Tech students was one of the many reasons that make this job such an attractive opportunity for me,” Fuente said. “The continued support of all of Hokie Nation will be important to our success, but we wanted to say a special thank you to our students. We hope they can join us on Tuesday and help us create an electric atmosphere all season at Lane Stadium.”

Current Virginia Tech students with a valid ID may enter Lane Stadium via gate 6 starting at 8 p.m. and will be permitted to view practice from the lower level of the west stands (press box side). Restroom facilities will be open, but no concessions will be available. Students will also be able to check in on the Gobbler Student Rewards App to receive five points.

Still photography is allowed, but Coach Fuente asks that no video be shot during the practice session. Following the conclusion of practice, students will be permitted on the field for 15 minutes to take selfies with football student-athletes (no autographs permitted). Once 15-minute period concludes, the team and students will clear the field.

Students can share their selfies and images from practice utilizing the hashtag #VTspringFB. The best submissions will be displayed on the video scoreboard at Lane Stadium and shared via @VT_Football on Twitter.

Media are also welcome to attend and will be made aware of details of how they can participate via a media advisory.

Kickoff for the 2016 Maroon-Orange Spring Game is set for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 23. The event is free and open to the public. Several notable Virginia Tech alumni are anticipated to be in attendance, including Pro Bowlers DeAngelo Hall and Tyrod Taylor.
