BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech Athletics Department announced that student football season tickets will go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. and that football season tickets will be available for purchase by the general public on April 6.
A student season ticket costs $93 and that includes fees. This averages to $16 per game and guarantees a seat for a Virginia Tech student for all six of the Hokies’ home games this fall.
Tech’s home schedule includes a game against Liberty that will be new head coach Justin Fuente’s first game, the Homecoming game against East Carolina, the Thursday night game against Miami, and the Commonwealth Clash against rival UVA. Fuente, who guided the Memphis program to 19 wins and two bowl appearances the past two seasons, inherits a squad that returns eight starters on offense and seven on defense from those who started in the bowl game.
The deadline for students to purchase their season tickets is May 11. Season tickets allow students to guarantee a seat for each home and thus avoid taking chances with the single-game lottery. Also, students with a season ticket can sit with friends through group seating, and students who purchase season tickets receive an additional 15 Gobbler Student Rewards points for the 2016-17 school year.
In addition, students will be given the opportunity to purchase tickets to the Battle at Bristol – the Hokies’ football game against Tennessee on Sept. 10 at Bristol Motor Speedway – at the same time when they purchase season tickets. The cost is $45 per ticket and students will be allowed to purchase a maximum of two tickets. The “Waltrip” section of the Speedway has been designated for students.
The Battle at Bristol tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis and there is no group seating available. Students must pick up the ticket in person in Blacksburg once school starts in late August.
Students can secure tickets by logging on to hokietickets.com/student.
Tickets for the general public will be available on April 6 at a cost of $350 per ticket. Fans can purchase online at hokietickets.com, or by calling the Athletics Ticket office at either of these two numbers – 1-800 VA TECH4 or 540-231-6731.
