Three Hokies were named to the second team on defense, senior lineman Luther Maddy, freshman cornerback Adonis Alexander and junior safety Chuck Clark.
McMillian, who joins former Tech running backs Ryan Williams (2009) and Darren Evans (2008) as VaSID Offensive Rookies of the Year, rushed for 1,043 yards during the season, becoming the first Tech back to surpass the 1,000-yard mark since David Wilson in 2011, when he was named the VaSID Offensive Player of the Year. McMillian, who was a state second teamer, also became just the third Tech freshman to reach the milestone (Williams and Evans), the 11th in the ACC.
Ford, who was the Offensive MVP of the Independence Bowl and broke numerous records throughout the 2015 season, becomes the first Tech wide receiver named to the state’s first team since André Davis back in 1999, who Ford bested in two single-season categories, receiving yards (1,164) and touchdowns (11).
Hodges repeats his state’s first team selection from a year ago after putting up very similar numbers in 2015 that he did last season. He caught 40 passes for 530 yards and six touchdowns after going 45/526/7 in 2014. He did however add a rushing touchdown to his 2015 totals, hitting pay dirt from 16 yards out in the Independence Bowl.
Maddy ended his Hokie career with a final season of 57 tackles (17 solo), including 7.0 for loss and 2.5 sacks. Maddy added three quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery to his totals. His career numbers included a Tech school record 56 games played, 175 total tackles (74 solo), 29.5 tackles for loss, 14.0 sacks, 45 quarterback hurries and two fumble recoveries.
Alexander led the squad with four interceptions, while totaling 55 tackles (37 solo) in 12 games played, eight starts. He also added six pass breakups to his totals.
Clark the team with 107 tackles (65 solo) and became the first defensive back at Tech to reach those marks since the 2003 season. He has also posted 16 straight games with at least five tackles heading into the 2016 season and scored a touchdown on a fumble return.
