GREENSBORO, N.C. – Highlighted by a first-team member on both sides of the ball – a first for the Hokies since 2010 – Virginia Tech had five players in all named to the 2015 All-Atlantic Coast Conference football team announced Monday and voted upon by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA).

Wide receiver Isaiah Ford and defensive tackle Luther Maddy were both first-team selections, while tight end Bucky Hodges and running back Travon McMillian were named to the third team and defensive tackle Corey Marshall was an honorable mention choice.

Ford, who was an honorable mention selection as a wide receiver last season, led the ACC in both receiving yards (937) and receiving touchdowns (10) this season. The sophomore out of Jacksonville, Florida, broke two single-season school records during the year, including the touchdown receptions mark and the overall receptions mark (63). He is just 26 receiving yards shy of eclipsing that school record as well. He has caught at least two passes in every game of his career (25) and is two games shy of tying the school record for consecutive games with at least one reception.

Maddy, who was also an honorable mention choice last season as a defensive tackle and a third-team selection in 2013, returned to the Hokies in 2015 after an injury last year. He started in all 12 games and has 55 career games played at Tech, tying the school record. He ended the regular season with 54 tackles (16 solo), including 6.5 for loss and two sacks. The redshirt senior from Delray Beach, Florida, added three quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery to his totals.

Ford and Maddy both being named first team marked the first time since 2010 that a player from both sides of the ball for Tech have made the first team in the same season (Tyrod Taylor, quarterback; and Jayron Hosley, cornerback). Ford became the first Tech offensive player to be named to the first team since David Wilson and Blake DeChristopher (2011), and only Kendall Fuller (2014) has been an ACSMA first teamer for Tech since then.

Hodges, who was a third-team choice at tight end last year, repeated that selection after putting up almost identical numbers from his freshman season. The sophomore out of Virginia Beach, Virginia, has caught 36 passes for 492 yards and six touchdowns in 2015, while going for 45/526/7 in 2014. His career numbers of 81 receptions and 1,018 yards are closing in on the top 15 all time in the conference for tight ends, while his 13 touchdowns are already the third most ever for a tight end in the ACC.

McMillian, a redshirt freshman from Woodbridge, Virginia, became Tech’s first freshman running back to be named All-ACC since 2009 when Ryan Williams was named to the first team. McMillian saw limited action through the first five games (32 attempts, 237 yards and no touchdowns), but broke out in the final seven regular-season games (152/738/5), which included three straight 100-plus yard rushing games. He is 39 yards shy of 1,000 for the season – only 10 freshmen have reached the milestone in a season in the ACC and only two Hokies. He is fifth in the conference in rushing.

Completing Tech’s All-ACC honors is Marshall, who was a third-team selection last season. Limited by injuries this season, he started just five games and played sparingly in four others. Marshall has totaled 14 tackles (seven solo) and had 5.5 for loss, including 2.5 sacks. The redshirt senior from North Dinwiddie, Virginia, also has forced two fumbles and added three quarterback hurries to his totals.

The Hokies ended their regular season with a 23-20 victory over Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 28, to secure a 6-6 record and became bowl eligible for the 23rd straight season. Tech will find out where it will play its final game this coming Sunday.
