Virginia Tech Opens ACC Schedule with Pitt as Hokies Begin 12th ACC Campaign

• Since joining the ACC in 2004, Virginia Tech is 9-2 (.818) in its opening ACC home game.
• Tech owns a 32-12 (.727) ACC home record, including a 27-4 (.871) mark when holding foes to 20 points or fewer.
• VT has won 10 of its last 11 ACC home games when limiting its opponent to 20 points or fewer.
• VT’s defense has allowed one TD in the second quarter, outscoring opponents by a 38-17 margin in that period.
• Since joining the ACC in 2013, Pitt is 7-9 in conference play (4-4 on the road) and is 6-6 overall on the road over that span.
• The Panthers have been held to 24 points or fewer in five of those six road losses (avg. score in six losses - 25.8 to 19.7).
• Virginia Tech is coming off a 35-28 loss at East Carolina (9/26). Pitt enjoyed a bye following a 27-24 loss at Iowa (9/19).
• The Hokies are 21-11 (.656) in ACC play during the month of October.

Hokies Seek to Maintain Homefield Advantage at Lane Stadium

• Dating back to 1995, Virginia Tech is 106-24 (.816) at Lane Stadium. VT is sixth in the ACC in scoring at 36.2 ppg.
• VT is 17-1 (.944) at home vs. the ACC when scoring 30+ points. Pitt has lost 11 of its last 13 on the road when allowing 30+ points.
• VT is 89-1 (.989) when allowing 10 points or fewer since 1996. Pitt has lost 17 straight games when scoring 10 points or fewer.
• The Hokies are 49-5 (.907) dating back to 2004 when holding ACC foes to 17 points or fewer.
• VT has averaged 497.7 yards per game of total offense the past three weeks and ranks fourth the ACC overall at 453.2 ypg.
• The Hokies are seeking a fourth straight game with 400+ yards of total offense. VT had five such games in total in 2015.

Hokies Among ACC Leaders, Hokies Play Two Games in Six Days at Lane Stadium

• QB Brenden Motley ranks sixth in the ACC in both passer rating (147.3) and total offense (233.5 ypg).
• Motley is tied for third in the ACC with six TD passes. Only UVA’s Matt Johns (8) and Clemson’s Deshaun Watson (7) have more.
• Motley is tied for fourth in the ACC with a 6.6 TD pct and is fourth with a 2.2 INT pct.
• P A.J. Hughes ranks ninth in the ACC with a 41.8-yard average and is fourth with eight punts inside the 20.
• S Chuck Clark is tied for eighth in the ACC, averaging 8.0 tackles per game. He leads VT with 32 total tackles (19 solo).
• DT Woody Baron is tied for eighth in the ACC with 2.0 sacks. DT Corey Marshall has a team-high 4.0 TFLs.
• Eleven different Virginia Tech defensive players have at least one TFL.
• Virginia Tech faces a short week following the Pitt contest with a Friday night home game vs. NC State (10/9).
