BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech sixth-year offensive lineman David and sophomore cornerback Chuck Clark were both named to the 65-person 2014 All-ACC Academic Football Team announced Wednesday by ACC Commissioner John Swofford.
To be eligible for consideration for the team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. All 14 ACC schools were represented by at least two selections on the team. The ACC has selected an All-ACC Academic Football team every year since 1954.
The team was chosen from a pool of 128 eligible ACC football student-athletes who were nominated by their schools.
Wang started all 13 games this season, logging 914 plays on offense. He graduated with a degree in management (2011) and a second degree in marketing (2012) and he also earned two master's degrees during his time at Tech, one in instructional technology (2013) and one in curriculum and instruction this past December.
Clark played in all 13 games, making 11 starts and finished third on the team with 73 tackles, including 8.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks. He had an interception, 11 pass breakups and six quarterback hurries this season.
