BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech starting center Andrew Miller underwent successful ankle surgery Sunday morning to help repair a Maisonneuve fracture that he suffered in Saturday’s win over Duke. The redshirt junior from Bassett, Va., suffered a broken fibula and torn ligaments in his left ankle. He will miss the rest of the season with the injury. With a recovery time of 4-5 months, Miller is questionable for next spring’s practice session.

The surgery was performed at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg by Dr. Marc Siegel.

Miller, a two-year starter and Rimington Award candidate at the center position, suffered the injury in the third quarter of the game and was replaced by Michael Via. Via was forced to move into the position because back-up center Caleb Farris missed Saturday’s game with an ankle injury. Miller has started the last 21 games at center for Tech and has played over 1,400 offensive snaps in his career.

Tech’s depth chart along the interior offensive line is now to be determined until the status of Farris and guard David Wang (ankle/knee) is determined.

The Hokies will visit 14th-ranked Clemson Saturday at noon.
