BLACKSBURG, Va. - Head Coach Frank Beamer and the Virginia Tech Football team announced today a fundraiser to support Breast Cancer Awareness for the second consecutive year. Pink bracelets will be sold for $1 each at the University Bookstore on-campus, the Volume Two Bookstore at University Mall, and the Hokie Stadium Shops in Lane Stadium. Pink bracelets can also be purchased online at www.bookstore.vt.edu. All funds donated will go directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and the goal is to raise $10,000 toward this cause.
Members of the Virginia Tech Football team and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority will be selling wristbands prior to the Hokies home games vs. Clemson, Oct. 1, and Miami, Oct. 8 in addition to the Boston College game.
October is known as National Breast Cancer Awareness month and the Hokies will designate the Oct. 22 game as Breast Cancer Awareness Day when they host Boston College in Lane Stadium. Members of the Virginia Tech football team will wear pink wristbands to show their support.
Individuals or groups wishing to purchase a minimum of 100 wristbands can do so by emailing the Virginia Tech Football office at lepperly@vt.edu. Checks are to be made out to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
