2012: Worked at quarterback with the scout team while taking a redshirt year … Recorded a 280-pound bench press, a 295-pound front squat and a 255-pound push jerk in team testing … Was 4 of 7 passing for 25 yards during the spring game.

High School: Started for three seasons for Coach Matt Griffis at Broad Run High … Finished career with 49 touchdown passes and just five interceptions … As a senior, the school’s first at the Virginia AAA classification, passed for 1,888 yards and 16 touchdowns with five interceptions … Also rushed for 296 yards and five scores … Earned first-team All-Met honors from The Washington Post … Was a unanimous first-team all-district selection at quarterback and player of the year … Was also second-team all-district as a punter … Suffered a broken collarbone in the second game of his junior season, but returned to play the final three games and finished with 1,012 yards, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions … As a sophomore, passed for 1,336 yards with 21 touchdowns and just two interceptions to help lead Broad Run to an undefeated season and a Virginia Group AA, Division 4 state title … Was second-team all-state that year as a punter and second-team all-region as a quarterback … Also lettered three times in baseball, earning first-team all-district and second-team all-region honors as a junior … Played basketball one year.
