WHY HE CHOSE TECH: “When I committed to Michigan State earlier in the year, they needed a guy. They didn’t have a guy. Then Connor Cook stepped in and did his thing and won a Big Ten championship and a Rose Bowl. He’s the guy for the next couple of years. Then Virginia Tech came around, and I thought, ‘Why wait?’ There was a chance for early playing time. They’re in a great conference, and I’d be playing for a coaching legend in Coach Beamer. Just looking at Coach [Scot] Loeffler’s track record, he worked with [Tim] Tebow, [Tom] Brady and Chad Henne. That stuck out with me. He knows what to do with quarterbacks.”
