BLACKSBURG – Every one of the nine players in the Virginia Tech starting lineup had at least one hit and one run scored, while eight of the nine also drove in a run, as the Hokies posted a 20-13 victory over Wake Forest and evened the ACC series on Saturday afternoon at English Field at Union Park.

Tech used 19 hits – including four doubles, a triple and four home runs – to plate an ACC record for runs scored in a game with 20 (previous high was 19 at Duke, March 6, 2009). Garrett Hudson drove in a career-high four runs, which included his first collegiate home run – a three-run shot in the sixth. Joe Freiday, Jr. (2-run HR), Nick Anderson (solo HR) and Tom Stoffel (solo HR) had three RBIs each, while Anderson led the team with a career-high four runs scored – one of six Hokies to cross the plate at least twice.

Chris Monaco improved to 1-1 on the season after throwing a career-high 5.0 innings and striking out three. Tech starter Packy Naughton struck out six over four frames. Wake Forest’s Donnie Sellers, one of seven Demon Deacons to pitch in the game, suffered the loss and is now 4-4.
