Career Highlights: Hit Tech's first pinch-hit home run in more than four seasons with his homer at Wake Forest on March 8, 2015 (Tyler Horan at Florida Atlantic, March 8, 2011) ... Hit one of Tech's two grand slams in 2016, at The Citadel on February 21, 2016 ... With Nick Anderson, became the first two Hokies to hit back-to-back home runs in an ACC game since March 17, 2012 (Jake Atwell, Mark Zagunis at Georgia Tech) when they went back-to-back at Virginia on May 20, 2016 ... Had three multi-homer games in 2017, including hitting a home run in his first three at-bats of the season at USC Upstate (Feb. 17) - first Hokie with three home runs in one game since May 10, 2009 (Chris Kay vs. Delaware State) ... Added a triple and double in that contest for 17 total bases, the most at Tech since April 21, 2002 (Brad Bauder, 23, at Georgetown) ... His 15 home runs in 2017 were tied for the third most since 1989 and tied for the second-most since joining the ACC (2005) ... Along with Nick Anderson and Mac Caples, became the first Tech trio to hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in recorded history versus Binghamton (March 4, 2017) ... Hit two home runs in that game, and third multi-home run game was versus Boston College (March 31).

2017: One of three Hokies to start all 55 games for the Hokies, all at first base … Second on the team with 21 multi-hit games, including four games with three and two games with five – at USC Upstate (Feb. 17) and versus Binghamton (March 4-G1) … Led the team with 18 multi-RBI games, including five with three, two with six – versus Boston College (March 31) and Northeastern (May 9) – and one game with seven, at USC Upstate (Feb. 17) … Added 10 multi-run scoring games, including two games with three and one with four … Had a season-best five game hitting streak and a reached base streak of 10 straight games … Batted .310 (third on the team) with 66 hits (tied for third), including 14 doubles, a team-high three triples and a team-high 15 home runs for 131 total bases and a .615 slugging percentage, both also led the team … Scored 43 runs (third) and added a team-high 63 RBI … Drew 21 walks, including three intentional, and was hit by seven pitches for a .372 on-base percentage … Also added a team-high 12 sacrifice flies … Scored one game-winning run and added two game-winning RBI … In the NCAA, at the end of the regular season, led the nation in sacrifice flies, was 17th in RBI, 20th in RBI per game (1.15), 36th in home runs, 43rd in total bases, 60th in HRs per game (0.27) and 65th in slugging percentage … Finished first in the nation in sacrifice flies, 17th in RBI per game, 32nd in total RBI, 55th in home runs, 58th in HRs per game, 65th in slugging percentage and 82nd in total bases ... In the ACC, at the end of the regular season, ranked fourth in RBI, tied for fifth in home runs in hits and seventh in total bases and slugging percentage ... Finished sixth in RBI, eighth in slugging percentage and tied for eighth in home runs.

2016: Started 50 games – 48 at third, one at second and one as the DH – while playing in all 55 games (one of three Hokies to play in every game) … Had 13 multi-hit games, including one game with three … Added a team-high tying 11 multi-RBI games, including four contests with three and two with four (at The Citadel, Feb. 21 and versus Alcorn State, May 8) … Also had seven multi-run scoring games, including three games with three … Registered a team-high 12 game-hitting streak and a season-long 16-game reached base streak … Batted .267 with 51 hits (fifth on the team), including 13 doubles (T-third) and a team-high seven home runs, for 85 total bases (second) and a .445 slugging percentage (second) … Scored 31 runs (T-fourth) and added a team-high tying 37 RBIs … Drew 12 walks and was hit by a team-high nine pitches for a .338 on-base percentage … Also added one sacrifice fly and three sacrifice bunts … Was 0-for-2 on stolen base attempts … Went 1-for-1 as a pinch hitter with a double … Scored a two game-winning runs and had one game-winning RBI.

2015: Started 24 games – 23 at second base and one as the DH – and saw action in 35 total games … Had four multi-hit games, including a four-hit game (vs. Radford on March 18), two multi-RBI games, including one with three RBIs (Radford), and two multi-run games, including a three run game (Radford) … Had a season long three-game hitting streak and a three-game reached base streak … Batted .190 with 16 hits, including two doubles, a triple and a home run, for 23 total bases and a .274 slugging percentage … Scored nine runs and knocked in 10 RBIs … Drew three walks and was hit by three pitches for a .242 on-base percentage … Also added two sacrifice bunts and a sacrifice fly … Went 1-for-5 in pinch-hit opportunities, but the hit was a solo home run at Wake Forest on March 8 – first pinch-hit home run by a Hokie in ACC play since May 20, 2010 (Andrew Rash at North Carolina).

2014: Redshirted the season.

High School: Earned varsity letters all four years while playing for Coach Eric Semega at Seneca Valley … Named all-section as an infielder as a junior after batting .480 with 12 doubles, four triples and three home runs, and added 25 RBIs and 24 runs … Limited to just 12 games as a senior, but still hit .391 with 18 hits, a home run, 11 RBIs and 10 runs … Had a career high school average over .400, as he hit .465 as a sophomore and .420 as a freshman … Helped team to three straight WPIAL championship games and two titles, while also winning three sectional crowns.

Personal: Samuel Joseph Fragale … Born November 12, 1994 in Zelienople, Pennsylvania … Son of Sam and Lisa Fragale … Has an older sister, Rebecca … Earned a degree in human nutrition, foods and exercise in May 2017, working towards a masters of information technology.
