BLACKSBURG – In its final ACC home series of the 2016 season, the Virginia Tech baseball team lost the first game to the visiting Wake Forest Demon Deacons, who combined to hit five home runs, 12-6 Friday evening at English Field at Union Park.

Each team had 11 hits, of which six went for extra bases, however the Hokies only managed one home run – a Sam Fragale two-run blast – while they had five doubles, two notched by Ryan Tufts.

It was the middle three frames where Wake Forest did its damage, scoring nine runs over the fourth through sixth innings, turning a 3-3 contest into a commanding Demon Deacon lead.

Parker Dunshee picked up the win for Wake and improved to 8-3 on the season, while Kit Scheetz suffered the loss and is now 5-5.
