LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The fourth-ranked Louisville Cardinals used a nine-run third inning to break open the second game of a three-game ACC set at Jim Patterson Stadium Sunday afternoon against the Virginia Tech Hokies and cruised to a 13-0 victory and secured the series for the home side.

Saige Jenco, who started the game off with a single, was the only Tech player with a multi-hit game and reached base three times, adding a walk. Nic Enright came out of the Hokies’ bullpen and threw the final five frames, three of which were scoreless, but the Cardinals had already done their damage.

Louisville’s Drew Harrington improved to 6-1 with the win on the mound after tossing six scoreless frames, while Tech starter Jon Woodcock's record fell to 1-6.

How the runs were scored

• Louisville (22-5, 8-3 ACC) got a single run in the second on a Devin Hairston grounder that scored Danny Rosenbaum. It would have been three if not for the Hokies’ Tom Stoffel, who robbed Will Smith of a two-run home run on the very next batter.
• Corey Ray sparked a nine-run third for the Cardinals with a solo home run to center, while Hairston picked up two more RBIs with a double and Collin Lyman and Devin Mann also had two RBIs in the frame.
• The home team added two more runs in the third and a single run in the eighth to close out its scoring.
• Tech (10-18, 1-10 ACC) was held scoreless for the first time this season.

Inside the Box

• Jenco: 2 hits, ninth multi-hit game of the season, 45th of his career; Has now hit safely in 11 straight starts (went hitless in a pinch hit appearance vs. Notre Dame, 3/26); Batting .419 (raised average 78 points) and has a .519 on-base percentage in stretch.
• Sam Fragale: double, sixth of the season, eighth of his career; second (behind Jenco) on team in batting at .318 since ACC play began (last 14 games) and leads team with a .477 slugging percentage.
• Enright: 5.0 innings, his longest outing of the year in a relief appearance (7.0 IP in a start vs. Quinnipiac, 3/5); 3 strikeouts, fifth time (in six appearances) he has struck out at least three.
• Stoffel: this was the second time he has robbed a home run from a batter this season, also taking one away from Manhattan’s Jason Patnick (2/28).
