BLACKSBURG - Runs were at a premium in the third game of the Virginia Tech-Duke ACC series at English Field on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils managed to scratch across two runs - neither of them on a base hit - and took the final game of the series, 2-0, marking their seventh straight win in Blacksburg.

Duke (24-17, 12-9 ACC) scored a single run in the second on a sacrifice fly by David Perkins bringing in Chris Marconcini and added another run in the sixth when Aaron Cohn plated Andy Perez on a squeeze play.

Tech (18-20-1, 7-14 ACC) had just eight baserunners, stranding seven of them and having one thrown out at the plate in the first inning. Saige Jenco led the Hokies with two hits, while Mark Zagunis drew a pair of walks and stole two bases - the 48th and 49th of his Tech career.

Michael Matuella earned the win on the mound for Duke, improving to 1-1, while Robert Huber earned his seventh save, getting the final out of the ninth with runners on first and second.

Jon Woodcock dropped to 1-2 on the season after going 5.1 innings and allowing the two runs. He struck out two, but also walked three. Luke Scherzer threw 2.2 scoreless innings in relief with two strikeouts and Brad Markey pitched the ninth with one strikeout.

The Hokies will be back in action this week with a pair of midweek games at English Field, Tuesday against Appalachian State and Wednesday versus Campbell, with both games scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. first pitch.
