BLACKSBURG, Va. – Team Autism Awareness scored seven runs over the second and third frames then held on to beat Team Stop Bullying, 8-7, on Thursday night at English Field to even the 2013 Virginia Tech baseball Fall World Series at one game apiece.

Freshman Miguel Ceballos led TAA with his bat and later with his glove as he was the only one on his side with a two-hit evening. His line included a three-run double in the second frame that turned a 1-1 game into a 4-1 advantage.

TSB took a 1-0 lead in the top of the frame on an RBI triple by sophomore Andrew Mogg, who also hit a one-out, two-run triple in the top of the seventh that pulled his squad to within a run at 8-7.

Senior Brad Markey would be called upon by TAA to close the game, getting the final two outs of the game to pick up a save. That effort started with Ceballos, who was playing second at the time, throwing out Mogg trying to score the tying run.

Freshman Garrett Hudson picked up three hits on the night for TSB, while junior Alex Perez and Mogg had two hits each. Only Ceballos had a multi-hit night for TAA and only he and Mogg had multi-RBI efforts.

Redshirt-freshman Kit Scheetz started the game for TAA and went 3.2 innings and allowed two earned runs with six strikeouts. Freshman Luke Scherzer did not allow a hit and struck out three in 2.1 frames to pick up the win in relief of Scheetz.

Sophomore Luis Collazo struck out seven in four innings for TSB, but suffered the loss, while freshman Joe Burris did not allow an earned run over 1.2 frames with three strikeouts and freshman Tom Stoffel retired the only batter he faced.

The series continues on Friday night with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m. for Game 3, while Games 4 and 5 will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
