LaPrade named ACC Wrestler of the Week

The redshirt freshman registered a major decision and scored an upset in a 2-0 week for the Hokies

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech redshirt freshman B.C. LaPrade was named the ACC Wrestler of the Week Wednesday after leading the Hokies to a pair of dual match wins over Chattanooga (28-7) and No. 17 Central Michigan (26-6).

In his first two career starts for the Hokies, LaPrade, wrestling at 157 pounds, scored a major decision over Dylan Forzani of Chattanooga then came back with a 3-1 sudden victory upset of No. 13 Colin Heffernan of Central Michigan. In all, the New Kent, Virginia native contributed seven team points to for the Hokies.

LaPrade is the second Hokie to earn an ACC weekly honor this season after redshirt sophomore David McFadden was tabbed Co-ACC Wrestler of the Week on November 15.

The No. 10 Hokies return to action this Saturday when they take No. 4 Missouri at 6 p.m. at the Moss Arts Center. Student tickets are still available at the door and the match can be seen on the WatchESPN platform via HokieVision LIVE.
