BLACKSBURG – Coming off its best season in program history, the Virginia Tech wrestling team kicked off the 2016-17 campaign with its annual Maroon & Orange on Saturday afternoon.

“I thought today was a very good start,” said head coach Kevin Dresser, who enters his 11th season leading the program. “Particularly it was important for us to get on a scale, put singlets on and wrestle in front of some people. This upcoming week will be critical week for us to progress.”

The Hokies, who are ranked No. 4 by FloWrestling and No. 6 by InterMat after finishing fourth at the NCAA Wrestling Championships last season, will open the season on Saturday, Nov. 5, against Edinboro and VMI at Cassell Coliseum starting at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live on the WatchESPN platform via HokieVision LIVE.
