BLACKSBURG - The 10th-ranked Hokies head out on the road this weekend, facing ACC opponent Pitt on Friday before taking on Edinboro on Sunday.
Tech enters the weekend fresh off victories over rivals West Virginia and then-18th ranked Virginia, dominating both teams with 32-3 and 31-7 victories, respectively. The Hokies will face a 17th-ranked Pitt squad at 7 PM on Friday that is only one win behind Tech in the ACC standings, where VT has won two league duals. Pitt is coming off loss at home to the ACC leader NC State last weekend and sits at 9-3 overall.
The Hokies will face a non-conference test on Sunday at 1 PM when they take on Edinboro, led by a trio of ranked wrestlers in senior Vic Avery, who is ranked second nationally at 197 pounds; freshman Pat Lugo, who is ranked 14th nationally at 125; and junior Austin Matthews, who is rated 15th nationally at 157 pounds. Edinboro has lost to four ACC squads this season, including VT’s Friday opponent, Pitt.
