2010-11: Posted a 28-11 overall record, qualifying for the NCAA Championships via a wildcard spot … Went 4-1 in ACC dual matches and 17-5 in all dual matches … Took third at the ACC Championships … Placed second at the Hokie Open and placed fourth at the Las Vegas Invitational … Had five major decisions, one technical falls and two pins … Picked up 61 team points in dual matches.

2009-10: Was scheduled to redshirt until an injury to Pete Yates forced him into the lineup in January … Responded by winning the ACC title at 149 pounds … Was also named the ACC’s Freshman of the Year and the state’s Rookie of the Year by VaSID … Officially had a 13-5 overall mark, but went 17-7 as an unattached wrestler to give him 30 wins on the season … Went 11-3 in dual meets and 4-0 in the ACC … Had two major decisions, a technical fall and three pins … Took sixth at the Hokie Open wrestling unattached … Won the Michigan State Spartan Open, placed fourth in the freshman division of the Kaufman-Brand Open and was second at the Nittany Lion Open, all as an unattached wrestler … Made his official debut at the Virginia Duals, going 1-3 in his first four matches … From there, won 12 straight matches, including a run at the ACC Tournament for his title … Big win came over No. 11 Tony D’Alie of Central Michigan, beating him 12-7 to earn ACC Wrestler of the Week honors … Got a tough draw at the NCAA Championships and went 0-2 … Named first-team all-state by VaSID, as well.
