GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomores Ashlynn Peters and Nathan Pawlowicz have been named ACC Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week after helping the Virginia Tech swimming and diving program top Penn State last weekend, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Peters swept both diving events in Tech’s 174-121 victory over the Nittany Lions. The Cypress, Texas native scored a 280.95 in the one meter and a 315.45 in the three meter en route to her second-career ACC Women’s Diver of the Week honor.
"I really feel Ashlynn is on track to have a very strong presence in the conference this year," head diving coach Ron Piemonte said. "She has been training very well, and it shows in her consistency and confidence on the boards."
Pawlowicz, the ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, registered two first place finishes last week with a 4:34.45 in the 500 free and a personal best time of 9:29.87 in the 1,000 free. He garnered 18 points to help lead the men’s squad to a 175-117 victory over Penn State.
"Nathan has worked very hard for the accolade," head swimming and diving coach Ned Skinner said. "He had a strong summer of training and we are proud of his start this season."
The H2Okies now have three ACC weekly honors thus far this season. Senior Robert Owen was tabbed ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 11 after leading the Tech men’s swimmers to a first place finish at the FGCU Swimming Classic.
Tech will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 21, at 5 p.m. for its first day of action against Duke with West Virginia and William and Mary at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. Day two will begin 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22.
