Reyna Gilbert-Lowry serves as the senior associate athletics director of student-athlete development at Virginia Tech. Gilbert-Lowry, who joined the staff in 2008 after working at Nova Southeastern University, is responsible for supervision and oversight of the Office of Student-Athlete Development and primarily oversees career development programming for all Hokie student-athletes. She attended Northern Illinois University where she was a four-year member of the gymnastics team and graduated with a degree in psychology, and received a master’s from Ball State in sport and exercise psychology.

Natalie Forbes serves as the director of student-athlete development. She joined the staff in 2014 as the coordinator for student-athlete development after serving as an intern in the office, and she coordinates programming to enhance student-athletes’ personal development. Forbes also  organizes community outreach endeavors for Virginia Tech student-athletes. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in apparel, housing and resource management and is currently pursuing a master’s of sports management from Old Dominion University.


Shelby Miller

Shelby Miller serves as the coordinator of student-athlete development. She joined the staff in 2016 and is responsible for assisting with leadership development programming and training for student-athletes, as well as the leadership study abroad course in the Dominican Republic. She also serves as the co-advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in addition to assisting in the overall planning of department-wide events. Miller graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in corporate/organization communication and received a master’s in sport management. She was also a three-year starter on the Huskies softball team.


Kendrick Gholston

Kendrick Gholston serves as the associate director of student-athlete development at Virginia Tech. Gholston joined the staff in July 2017 after serving as an associate director in Student-Athlete Academic Support Services at Virginia Tech. His responsibilities include providing programming and support for all Virginia Tech student-athletes primarily geared towards career development, mentoring, and alumni engagement. He was a member of the football team at the University of Louisville and his efforts afforded him an opportunity to play several years in the NFL. He graduated with a degree in graphic design, and received his master's from Texas Christian University in Liberal Arts and Science with an emphasis in education.
