BLACKSBURG- The No. 18 Virginia Tech men’s soccer team (9-2-1) will host Wright State on Thompson Field Tuesday. Kick off is set for 6 p.m.
The Hokies continue their three-game homestead after defeating VMI and Duke last week on Thompson Field. Tech took down VMI 7-1 on Tuesday and ACC opponent Duke 3-1 on Friday. Against VMI, Marcelo Acuna scored his first hat trick as a Hokie in the first 26 minutes while Drew Ott scored two goals in two minutes late in the second half. James Kasak and Alessandro Mion added a goal a piece. Against Duke, three different Virginia Tech players scored including Acuna, Rory Slevin and Humberto Montero.
Scouting Wright State
The Raiders travel to Blacksburg for only the second time in program history. Wright State is currently 7-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the Horizon League. Tech will be their first ranked opponent of the season. The Raiders had big wins over Cincinnati in double overtime and Duquesne. Tech and Wright State have had a common opponent in NC State. Hokies winning 3-0 while the Raiders lost 2-4. Their player to watch is Peguy Ngatcha. He leads the team in goals (9), points (20) and game winners (3). These teams previously met in 2011 when the Hokies won it 1-0.
