BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech’s Erick Green was selected by the Utah Jazz in the second round of the 2013 NBA Draft on Thursday night. Later in the night, Green was traded to the Denver Nuggets for the rights to Rudy Gobert.

Green, a guard from Winchester, Va., was selected with the 16^th pick in the second round (46^th selection overall). Green becomes the first Hokie selected in the draft since the Detroit Pistons selected Deron Washington with the 59th selection in the 2008 NBA Draft. Green is the highest selection for the Hokies since Bimbo Coles was the 40^th selection in the 1990 draft by the Sacramento Kings.

The 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year, Green led the nation in scoring this season for the Hokies. A first team All-ACC selection this past season and third team AP All-American, he averaged 25.0 points per game and also led the Hokies in steals and assists. He concluded his Virginia Tech career ranked 10^th in career scoring in school history and set a school record by scoring 801 points in his senior campaign.

Green becomes the third Hokie to be drafted by the Utah Jazz. Dell Curry was a first round selection by the Jazz in 1986 and Eddie Lucas was a second round selection by the Jazz in 1999.

Green was one of eight former ACC players selected in the two rounds of this year's draft.
