BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech cross country runners Neil Gourley and Peter Seufer will be competing at the Great Edinburgh XCountry International Challenge held in Edinburgh, Scotland on Jan. 9.
The challenge consists of four separate races – the senior men’s race, the senior women’s race, the junior men’s race and the junior women’s race. A total of 30 athletes will be competing.
Gourley, a junior from Glasgow, Scotland, finished in 157th place at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 21. His best finish of the season came in the Princeton Inter-Regional 8K race when he came in 19th.
Gourley will be competing for Scotland in the senior men’s race, which is an 8K race.
Seufer, a freshman from Lynchburg, Virginia, was the ACC’s Freshman of the year after coming in 34th at the ACC Championships, finishing in a time of 24 minutes, 37.3 seconds. He finished 205th at the NCAA Championships with a time of 32:03.3 and 40th at the NCAA Southeast Regional with a time of 30:42.7.
Seufer will be competing on Team USA’s junior men’s squad and run the 6K race.
