The weekend series: Tech concludes its 2016 season with a three-game ACC series in Charlottesville, Va., against the ninth-ranked Virginia Cavaliers. The set includes to 6 p.m. games at Davenport Field on Thursday and Friday and concludes with a Saturday contest set for a 4 p.m. start.

History versus the Cavaliers: All-time, Tech trails in the series 84-94 - including a 30-53 record at Virginia. The two teams have not met since the Hokies swept Virginia, who was No. 1 at the time, in Blacksburg in March 2015. Ironically, the last time the two teams met in Charlottesville, the No. 1 Cavaliers swept Tech in March 2014. Due to Tuesday’s rainout and the three-game set this weekend, the UVa-Tech series now becomes the longest in Virginia Tech history (in terms of games) - the VMI series would have tied this one at 178 games before this weekend’s UVa-Tech series began.

Reaching the 20-run plateau: For the first time since joining the ACC, Tech scored 20 runs against a conference opponent (previous high was 19 vs. Duke, March 6, 2009) when the Hokies defeated Wake Forest on Saturday, 20-13. It also marked the third time this year that Tech reached the 20-run mark, joining the 1997 squad as the last Tech team to score at least 20 runs three times in the same season - they beat Rollins (20-9), Radford (21-4) and NC A&T (23-2) during that season.

Four home runs in one game: The Hokies hit four home runs in that Wake Forest win, marking only the second time ever they’ve hit four home runs against an ACC opponent (at Georgia Tech, March 17, 2012 - Jake Atwell (2), Mark Zagunis & Tyler Horan 1) and the first time four different Hokies hit a home run in an ACC game. The last time four Hokies hit a home run in the same game was versus Liberty on March 19, 2013 (Kyle Wernicki, Mark Zagunis, Andrew Rash & Sean Keselica).

Jenco leading off the first: This season, Saige Jenco has reached base to start the Hokies’ first inning 22 times (in 44 starts) and has reached base at some point in a game in every start this season, except one. The 22 times also includes 13 times in the last 22 games. However, after scoring a run six of the first seven times he reached base in the first frame (Tech was 5-2 in those games which included winning the first four), Jenco has only crossed the plate four times in the last 13.

Woodcock untouchable out of ACC pen: LHP Jon Woodcock has bounced from starter to relief pitcher several times over his three-year career with Tech. In ACC games, his bullpen numbers are phenomenal - in nine appearances, he’s thrown 25 innings, allowed nine hits, seven runs (two earned for a 0.71 ERA), walked 11 and struck out 22. This season, he’s allowed just one hit in 8.1 frames with six strikeouts and has not surrendered a single run.
